RIP MLN

Post by TaeIsTheMostAttractive on Mon Oct 19, 2015 2:09 pm

It's official. MLN is ded. Shut down.

If you go to http://mln.lego.com , you instantly get redirected to the Lego.com Club Members page

It's been replaced with LEGO Club missions :O

RIP MLN and the fun we had. Sad

Oh wow... You're right. oO I logged onto MLN a couple weeks ago for old times' sake and gave some clicks to Jred's page. xD

Man, almost 8 years. I guess that's a long run (although honestly, it died in 2010 when they stopped updating it...)

Meanwhile, where is this LEGO Club Missions thing?

I'm a little surprised it took so long. Did they have any real updates outside of that Racers game?

Aw, that's sad, so many memories from it, 2007/2008 was its heyday!

I can trace my online presence back to MLN, it was the thing that started it all!

lego.com and MLN were my first online accounts too, but I dropped MLN after LU beta and LUCL started. Never went back. Razz

MLN/Message Boards were my LEGO beginnings.  Met a number of ya'll there and expanded those friendships on the CL.

Wish I'd got a screenshot or something of my page before it was too late. Sad

Ah, MLN... I remember MLN clearly. I remember when that was what I was excited to check all the time. Looking back on it, I'm not sure how or why I was able to put so much time into it, but I did.

It's a shame it's gone, but I understand. I'm honestly more surprised it took as long as it did than I am that it's actually gone. It went quite some time without any updates whatsoever, and I'm pretty sure the activity dropped to nearly 0 as a result long before this.

For as simple as MLN was, I have quite a few memories with it, and definitely won't forget it. Heck, had I never been a member of MLN, I wouldn't have gotten involved in the creation lab, and if I hadn't done that, I wouldn't have met TST, and if I hadn't done that, I wouldn't have made LZP, and... Aaaaand I just realized my entire social life up to this point stems from MLN.

LMB for me. There I was lead to Brickset, where upon I ran into a guy from the LMBs who had started a fan-forum (which Beeks and Moe were also part of). That all came apart but when I finally got sick of the nonsense in the SW RPGs, I searched out the three people I most connected with from there - KitFisto7, Spacedude, and Emjajoes. I e-mailed Kit... didn't really talk to him since, couldn't find Em at the time, but searching up SD lead me here. One of the greatest single decisions of my life.

Zyph: Yep, I remember that one. (And the one- or two?- before that. That's how I got into Lego.com Razz)

Unfortunately it was super-duper-glitchy for me. And honestly I never bought nearly enough sets to actually buy any stickers or anything, so it was kinda pointless for me.

I remember the lego club pages, I may have only made an account after they were phased out though.

I remember the club pages, first sort of site I went on after google was lego.com. We had dial-up though, Irish dial-up so the pages never actually saved it was that slow. When MLN came along we had switched to a mobile broadband provider so it was actually usable. Funny though because without MLN and the LMBs I would have never ended up on sites like this or MLNT.
