The Star Wars Battlefront Club (SWBC)

Post by Lone-Star on Sun Nov 03, 2013 11:42 pm

I think the title is pretty self-explanatory. Razz

Basically, this is the place to talk about battle tactics, accomplishments, awesome moments, hilarious moments, previews of Star Wars Battlefront 3, and so on. Talk about either SWB, One or Two. What are your favorite troop classes? What is your favorite vehicle? What battle tactics have given you the most victories?

Fight on,

@Zint: The only problem I have with Battlefront 3 is that I will never be able to afford it because I will never be able to afford a PS4, which is what it's being released under. Sad

I've got PS2 and that's it... BUT according to Wikipedia, BF(3, it isn't technically called that.... :/ whatever) is SUPPOSED to be released on PC as well as PS4 and Xbox One. So that's good, 'cause all I got is PC and PS2 Razz

Republic: IFT-X/TX-130S Republic Fighter Tank
Rebel Alliance: AAC-1 Hovertank
Empire: AS-ST

Favorite Air Vehicle(s):

And... that covers the basics.  Razz  (continues listening to SW music on ancient SWBF(I) site) excuse me while I avoid trouble and do my schoolwork.  Razz

Favorite class? Trooper
Why? Precision Pistol+Elite Rifle+Nades=MOWDEMALLDOWN! And the pistol/rifle combination is the closets to a machiengun you'll get. (Clone Commander hardly [doesn't] counts).

Other than that? Sniper, just cause any sniping is fun, no matter which game. Razz

Special class: Clone Jet-Trooper, Dark Trooper. Arc-casters or EMP Grenade launcher+pistol = win.

Favorite vehicle? Hmmm....................................the empire's/clone's tank, with the beam turret. Razz

Favorite map: Hard choice between Tantive IV and Polis Masa, I liek the tight, CQC style maps, unless I'm sniping, then I like utapau. Razz

Favorite Villian: Darth Maul
Favorite Hero: Obi-wan.

Why? Sprint Attacks, and Maul's stand attack is just baws too.

Favourite weapon? Precision Pistol. I can use it as a sub-machinegun (no really, I can fire like it's the Clone Commando's Chaingun), or a sniper rifle, or both. It's usually my main weapon.

Favorite faction? Rebels or Clones....pretty even....

Favorite Conquest bonus: Garrison, don’t need nothing but garrison. (talk about OP! Razz)

Well, I see we've moved on to SWBF-II now, okay, cool by me as it's not my topic and someone is talking SWBF with me  Razz

Preferences for Battlefront II
Favorite Infantry Unit(s):
CIS: Super Battle Droid/Droideka
Republic: Clone Trooper/Jet Trooper
Rebel Alliance: Rebel Solider/Rebel Vanguard/Rebel Marksman
Empire: Storm Trooper/Dark Trooper

Favorite Land Vehicle(s):
CIS: Snail Tank (forget the proper name)
Republic: IFT-X/TX-130S Republic Fighter Tank/AT-RT
Rebel Alliance: AAC-1 Hovertank
Empire: AS-ST

Favorite Air Vehicle(s):
CIS: Tri-Fighter
Republic: V-wing fighter (supposed to be a quick fighter, not a bomber, but it's still awesome to pwn cap ships in)
Rebel Alliance: X-Wing fighter/A-Wing fighter
Empire: Tie Interceptor (all the way!)

Favorite Assorted:
Faction: Republic
Blaster: Elite Rifle/Precision Pistol (Precision Pistol and Elite Rifle are AWE inspiring and then SOME. I love both of them... Accurate, powerful and quick. My only problem is keeping them (especially the pistol) in ammo. I agree on trooper, it's just too much fun to mowdownthedroids. And with meh pistol, I can take out Droidekas, with full shields, and live. That's a lot for me. Razz  The pistol is my fave weapon in SWBF-II for close encounters of the Droideka kind. (Clone Commander, if the warm up time for his chaingun was any longer, it'd be Ep-VII by the time it fired. Razz )
Grenade: Thermal Detonator
Rocket: Electromagnetic Pulse Launcher/Wrist Rocket
Map(s): Tantive IV, Polis Masa, Mustafar, and the classic Mos Eisley, which is both tight and long ranged combat all in one. I like the tight maps in SWBF-II as well)
Sound: General Grievous "Rodger Rodger RODGER!!!!" and the Clone "Ow, was it something I said?!" and "It's a good thing you're on our side!"
Class: Basic Infantry
Hero: Luke Skywalker, (can't knock the classics) Aayla Secura  (two saber wielding monster who attacks like an animal)
Villain: Grievous, Jango Fett, Darth Vader, Darth Maul (in that order)
Unaffiliated Vehicle: 74-Z speeder bike
Conquest Bonus: Garrison, if you can't win with that, get out of the war. (wait.... there have been many times that I should have gotten out of the war Razz )

I like how in Battlefront II, once you reach a certain rank or whatever, how the rifle turns into a purple three-shot blaster for ALL the games you play. It' so awesome. Cool

I hope they still have something like that in the upcoming one. Razz

Wow, all those statistics.  I'm pretty simple:

My favourite class?  Basic infantry, always and forever.  Razz  They hit hard, have plenty of bullets, and take little skill to be. LOL  I also prefer jet troopers or dark troopers for sneaky assaults, like taking the main droid island at Kashyyyk (or however you spell it).

Love BFI droid star fighters in Dune Sea.  The other day I knocked out 55 without getting out of my vehicle. Twisted Evil

Does anyone else get really pumped in a main assault?  I just can't STAND not being in one most of the time.  You feel like all the troops around you are your companions and start yelling at them to "Get down" or "Get back!" or "ONWARD BOYS! DO YOU WANT TO LIVE FOREVUH???"

Scare and I finish every victory by clasping one another's hand and gritting our teeth and growling.
  Yeah...we're sick. Razz

You would absolutely LOVE planetside 2! Islike that, only everyone around you IS a real prson, and you're charging up a hill with tanks and infantry around you, feeling invincible- until a brigade of enemy tank and light assaults appear on top of thehill. Then your fighters streak overhead, and you jump in a tank turret and start feelinginvincible again. Razz

I would post some epic screenshots, but no computer. Razz

If Star Wars Battlefront (that's the official name of the new game, by the way, not Battlefront 3, sadly) was like Planetside 2 but on the Frostbite 3 engine, I would be a happy, happy man.

EDIT: If you want me to post some screenshots or videos, I totally would. I've kinda been binge-playing Planetside for about a week now. Razz

Dalu: Agreed on infantry, even I can win with them. Razz And jet/jump packs are just awesome.

I have two styles of BF play; CHARGE and YIPPEE.

Charge is exactly what it sounds like Razz Move toward enemy, capture as many command posts, and kill as many AIs as possible, oh yeah, and try not to die.... too often.

Yippee is what I say when I do it. Razz  This is when I get bored with charging and go fly a fighter, drive a tank, zoom around like a maniac on a speeder, or just go ballistic with a rocket firing weapon. Razz

Talk to the AI? Nah... they just aren't smart enough. Razz I mostly yell at them to get out of my way or not to stand on the grenade that just landing under their feet. I prefer actually talking to another human player as they talk back. Laughing

I shall also shamelessly steal Dino's organization system... for the Republic. Razz

Star Wars Battlefront II

Favorite Infantry Unit(s)
CIS--Droideka
Republic--Clone Trooper, (PC Version w/ mods) Republic Commando
Rebel Alliance--Rebel Soldier
Empire--Storm Trooper

Favorite Ground Vehicle(s)
CIS--Spider Droid, Hailfire
Republic--IFT-X Tank, AT-TE
Rebel Alliance--Can't say: Rebel ground vehicles are rather bad. Razz
Empire--Imperial Walker, AT-ST Walker

Favorite Space Vehicle(s)
CIS--Droid Bomber
Republic--V-Wing
Rebel Alliance--Y-Wing
Empire--TIE Bomber, TIE Interceptor

Favorite Unaffiliated Vehicle(s)
None

Favorite Turret(s)
The default laser turrets on pretty much every level. Razz

Favorite Assorted
Faction--A toss-up between the Republic and the Empire, but leaning heavily towards the Republic
Weapon--Elite Rifle
Grenade--All of 'dem. Razz
Rocket--The ones from the Hailfire Droid
Maps--Hoth, Mustafar, Hoth, Geonosis, Hoth
Sounds--"OW! Was it something I said?" (Clone trooper), "It's Kenobi! Let's give him a great disturbance in his force!" (Stormtrooper)
Hero(es)--None. Jedi absorb. Razz
Villain(s)--Jango/Boba Fett

Playstyle: If you hadn't noticed, my favorite classes are all basic infantry units. They have a great rate of fire, do decent damage, and are loaded with grenades. I usually do one of two things: 1). I find a level's major choke points and mow down incoming infantry or 2). I rush enemy CPs but one, go to the last one, and just camp while gunning down the spawning units. There's a one or two second delay between when a unit spawns into the world and when it becomes active, which allows you to gun them down with two or three headshots, or a burst in the torso.

Andy,
  That sounds epic!!!!!

Dino,
ROFL!  We do charge and yippee too!  It's a question of whether you want to feel like you're on a do-or-die mission, or whether you just want to make things go boom and cackle madly when droid parts go flying in all directions. Twisted Evil
I'd much prefer talking to real people, if I could.  Scare and I are constantly filling one another in, but when there's so many men around you, you're bound to yell at them or say, "What have I done?  I told him to move out, and I got him killed!  I'M SUCH AN AWFUL PERSON!!!"  or "Oh, thanks, man!  You're a capital fellow!" when an engineer gives you health.
  ...
Or maybe I'm just bound to do that. Razz

Terran Republic Engineer: hey, whatever works. Er, whatever is needed for the war effort!  Razz

I like your play style, it reminds me of my own. "Find hall with wall/box/doorway to hide behind, and force enemy to walk into my award/elite rifle fire. That or beat them up at CPs, except I try to take the CPs instead of just sitting there shooting them, unless I'm in space... man is it fun to take out pilot droids with Precision Pistol in the hanger... Razz

Dalu: Okay, so I talk to the AI too. Razz Once in a while. Those engineers are so helpful.... when you don't need them. Razz And Bobby (I call all AI units Bobby... I have no idea why Razz ) always dies... sometimes because my rocket didn't go where I intended it to... Innocent EPIC DUEL

My main tactic is to capture command posts. I often do it very fast and furiously, in a style that Dalu and I call "blitzkrieg." Basically, we move like a wave and kill, destroy, and capture as we go. When we can, we get in tanks or troop transports to add a mechanized forced to our blitzkrieg. For the most part, this style is quite successful--especially when I choose a powerful class such as Basic Infantry or Engineers--and occasionally we have a battle over in a matter of a couple minutes.

This tactic varies with certain battlefields, especially in my favorite battlefields in which various geographical features offer me better advantages if I utilize different tactics.

In space, my main tactic is to infiltrate an enemy ship, knock out the auto turret defense system and the shields, and then use a bomber or standard fighter to knock out the remaining systems from the outside. When Dalu is playing with me, we both board a troop transport (usually with me as pilot), and I drop her and a few other troops off in the enemy hangar. Then I leave to get more troops to drop off, and while ferrying men back and forth, I do as much damage as possible to enemy vehicles.

One of these days I'll upload some strategies I have for particular battlefields...
