UPDATE TIIIIIIME

So I've been super inactive with uploading drawings for two reasons:

One, I've been messing around with Photoshop cs6, which has been a rage and fun filled experience. I might upload some stuff soon.

Two, I'm still experimenting with my pencil and paper styles. I found a general kind of thing that I'm going to be pointing my learning towards and I've been working with that.

Anyways, I made a doodle to practice my values/hair skill.

Heeeeeeey

So I was scribbling today. Yesterday. It's 12:24 now. I need to go to sleep.

Started off with a hair doodle, made it into a full body doodle.

Spoiler:

I don't even know what I'm drawing anymore. I kinda liked where the hair went but after that then I started going further with it and it just kinda...went. Still, it was good practice. Still, I'm trying to move away from manga. Still, I am failing. Razz

...and I'm am too lazy to draw hands and feet.

By the way, that's a phone. Don't be weird.

Dang dude! That's really good! The only thing, (might just be me) her head seems a tad large and her shoulders a tad broad. Though, it might just be the hair. But the shading is wonderful and as is the pose. EM, MANLY MAN OF MAN

Heeeeeeey guyyyyyyyyyys

Hopped on LZP for the first time in a while. Saw some cool art done by some cool people. Remembered this topic. Razz

Although I've been quite active in the drawing world lately, I don't have too many pieces to post up here today. The reason for that being that I've been focusing in a lot on the structure and technicalities of the human form, all of which isn't too interesting to look at. I guess it's important tho, because a lot of great artists say that people are the most important thing to be good at. Idk. They're smart.

So that's what I've been up to. Looking back on my art from this topic and from my sketch books, I've noticed that a lot of my people drawings are super super stiff and janky. So the first two drawings are of people that hopefully look a little bit more like real people should. Razz

1.

I've had this one in my book for a while now, just never got around to uploading it. I had a lot of fun playing with lights and shadows in this drawing. I wanted for there to be somewhat of an enveloping feeling to the darkness of the room, held back only by the beacon of light that is the floor lamp. Razz

Spoiler:

Unfortunately I didn't do so well on the perspective and some of the lighting effects didn't translate too well through the camera. Also it didn't help that this drawing got owned out in the rain. Razz

2.

This one's more of a classic doodle by my standards, only difference being the attempted foreshortening, the general added looseness of the pose, and the attempt at adding a shred of implied personality to the face. Not sure how well I did on any of those. Razz

Spoiler:

I'm also pretty sure that there are a million anatomy issues that I can't see yet. Point those out to me if you see them.

AAAAAAAND then I have two more.

A dude I know asked me to make some drawings for him. I made some drawing for him. Razz

1.

I sketched out a lizard man. He is a lazily drawn lizard man. He is also off balance because his right leg is longer than his left leg. But he is a lizard man so I like him.

Spoiler:

2.

This one is a buy one get one free.

Spoiler:

On the left we have a....we have a.....a thing. On the right we have a stereotypical orc.

Eat yo' vegetables.

Love the first one soooo much. The shading is just wow. EM, MANLY MAN OF MAN

As for the second one, also well done, the only thing anatomy wise I really notest was the eyes looked a bit off, but then that could just be me. Loved how you did her hair!!!

Lizard man is amazing and the one leg shorter then the other is hardly notesable Smile

And I agree with Jred the Steampunckerynesss Smile

Wuzzap

I just need to drop in and update this thread with a single sketch.

Spoiler:

So this is an experiment I made a couple days ago. I ended up really really liking it. It has all my favorite elements.

The heads are definitely manga inspired. The shapes are simple, ears small, jaw sharp. I've always liked that about the Japanese style, but never liked the lack of finer detail. I mixed it with a little bit of realism and the outcome was most pleasing. Razz

The bodies have a cartoonish proportioning to them. Wide shoulders, thin waists and large hands. That overall body structure is also something that I've liked for a while, but again, disliked the lack of detail usually associated. Because I hate using hard lines, I tried adding some semi-realistic shading to take its place. It ended up looking nice through my eyes. :33

I think I might have something here. I'm going to try expanding off this. Maybe increasing the realism or the exaggeration in the body proportioning. Idk. I'm just glad to finally find something I like. Razz

Expect to see more. Possibly a lot more. Razz

Woooow. Soo, honestly the proportions are definitely a bit odd, almost a bit uncanny/creepy even, but... well, I am VERY, very envious of your drawing skill. Razz Incredible as usual, and honestly besides proportions (which aren't even "disproportionate" in a "bad artwork" kind of way) the whole thing is amazingly realistic.

I agree with Arik on the disturbing proportions (really the hands), but your drawing abilities are just amazing.  I love that you steered away from dark lines and used more lighting effects.  That's one of my favourite styles.

Looking forward to more!

Proportions wise, I'd say really only the hands on the girl are an issue. Although... Honestly, I could also see at as a sort of an artistic style.  Something that sets you apart.

On the other hand, perhaps the girl is not human, maybe she's from another race, or a mutant.

Or maybe you did just scale the hands up a bit too much....

Razz

Either way, the drawings look excellent especially the girl's face/hair and the guy's jacket.
